Polymer-stabilized precious metal colloids insensitive to oxidation

Colloid with precious metal particles having surface oxidation-insensitive sulfonic or phosphonic acid groups derived from a coordinate polymer selected from sulfonated (partially) fluorinated polystyrene or alkylene/styrene copolymer, perfluorinated alkylene/alkylene oxide, polystyrene, polyarylene oxide, polyarylene ether sulfone, polyarylene ether ketone, polyphenylene or polyphenylene sulfide; or phosphonated arylene oxide or polybenzimidazole. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a solution containing the colloid; (2) a method of preparing the colloid solution in which precious metals salt(s) are reacted with reducing agent(s) in the presence of the oxidation-insensitive stabilizing polymer(s); (3) a precious metal heterogeneous catalyst containing the precious metal colloid and a support.
