Attachment of fuel vapor vent valve to the inside of a fuel tank

A fuel vapor vent valve (14) is formed of different plastic material than the fuel tank (12). A U-shaped or cupped attachment member (36) formed of tank material is received over the valve (14) with the upper end (54) slotted to permit the hose fitting to extend outwardly through the slot (54) for hose attachment within the tank (12). The rim (50) of the attachment member (36) is secured by weldment to the undersurface (16) of the upper tank wall (12).
