An air conditioning unit for a mobile temperature controlled container has an enclosed indoor section that closes against the one wall of the container. A blower wheel compartment is contained within a housing (15) which has a spiral-shaped lower section (46) that communicates with an upper discharge section (42). A blower wheel (43) is mounted within the lower section (46) of the compartment and the front of the enclosure is closed by a cover (50). The cover (50) contains a circular inlet opening (60) adjacent the blower wheel (43) and a rectangular outlet nozzle (62) located adjacent the discharge section of the compartment. The nozzle (62) is arranged to discharge conditioned air into the container and has a vane (70) thereon for optimizing the discharge flow into the container.
