A controller (20) is also included which is adapted to detect objects (86) within the field of view image (17), and determine a reference angle (q) between the vehicle (10) and a detected object (86). The controller (20) also generates a distance value between the vehicle (10) and the detected object (86) as a function of a lane width value (w) and the reference angle (q).",
