Manual gearshift device for automotive automatic transmission

A manual gearshift device (9, 23, 25) for an automotive automatic transmission operative in an automatic shift mode in which a gear ratio is automatically varied according to driving conditions and a manual mode in which a gear ratio is manually changed is disclosed. The manual gear shift device (9, 23, 25), that is installed to spokes (6, 7) of a steering wheel (5) extending in substantially diametrically opposite directions, comprises a first gearshift switch (23) which is installed to one of the spokes (6, 7) at an obverse side of the steering wheel (5) and provides a shift-up command signal and a second gearshift switch (25), desirably different in shape from the first gearshift switch (25), which is installed to one of the spokes (6, 7) at a reverse side of the steering wheel (5) and provides a shift-up command signal.
