The floor mat (1) is manufactured from a section of carpet made from synthetic or natural fibres with a d/tex of 10, or a mixture of equal proportions of fibres with a d/tex of 8.8 and 11, pre-coated on the underside with synthetic rubber latex containing a calcium carbonate filler to ensure the adhesion of an over-molded layer of a thermoplastic material injected through a single nozzle. The overmolded layer has sections (18, 20, 22) separated by lines of reduced resistance (17, 19, 23) that can be cut off for fitting in different vehicles.
