Process for treating highly active lead dust used in the production of batteries comprises reacting the dust with surface active materials. An Independent claim is also included for highly active lead dust which has been reacted with surface active materials. Preferred Features: The surface active materials are mixed during the grinding process to form the lead dust. The surface active materials are finely sprayed into the mixing drum of a lead dust mill.
