Apparatus and method for regeneration of exhaust treatment device

The method is for the regeneration of an exhaust gas processing device in the exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine, particularly a particle filter (10) in the exhaust gas system of a diesel engine (5), whereby the temperature and/or hydrocarbon concentration in the exhaust gas are/is increased by the subsequent injection of fuel in the work stroke of the engine. The predetermined values for the suction pressure and/or the air mass flow are so altered dependent upon a value correlated with the ambient temperature that through the subsequent injection stable values are achieved for the exhaust gas temperature and/or the hydrocarbon concentration in the exhaust gas.
