It has devices for adjustment of the control times of at least one inlet valve (7) and at least one exhaust valve (8), at least one ignition (18) and at least one direct injection device (17) per cylinder. For operation of the inlet valve at least one inlet camshaft (9) and for operation of the exhaust valve at least one exhaust camshaft (10) are provided. At least one inlet valve per cylinder (1) is provided with a lift changeover device (11) changing it from a first to a second lift position. At least one exhaust valve is operable by a residual gas feedback device (13) during the inlet operation.",
