The invention relates to a brake with a rotating element (1), a pole wheel (2) held on the rotating element (1) such that it rotates with the rotating element (1) about a rotation axis, a first side of the pole wheel (2) transverse to the rotation axis facing the rotating element (1) and a second side of the pole wheel (2) transverse to the rotation axis facing away from the rotating element (1), and a first axial stop (5) cooperating with a first stop section arranged on the first side of the pole wheel (2) and a second axial stop (4) cooperating with a second stop section arranged on the second side of the pole wheel for limiting an axial displacement of the pole wheel (2) relative to the rotating element (1) to a first predetermined measure. According to the invention, it is provided that along each line parallel to the rotation axis that passes through the first or the second axial stop, a distance between the first stop section and the second stop section is smaller than a distance between the first axial stop (5) and the second axial stop.
