The battery (1) has interconnected electrochemical cells formed from electrodes, electrolyte and end poles. A frit (4) made of conductive material located at the single outlet point (5) subdivides the gas collecting line (3) into two areas and is connected to the electrodes of the cells. The cells are arranged such that under normal operating condition, voltage developed between the distances is less than 30V.
