Hybrid gas generator

DRIVE March 12, 2003
Source
The hybrid gas generator has an elongated cylindrical outer housing and a pressure chamber (12) filled with pressure gas, closed by a face-side membrane (14). A pyrotechnic drive charge (38) for opening the membrane is located in a housing (28) outside the pressure chamber and connected to the outer housing, and with its longitudinal axis (B) extends at right-angles to the longitudinal axis (A) of the outer housing (10). At an axial end of the outer housing is an axial outflow aperture (20). The outer housing has a peripheral wall (22) with a radial insert aperture (24) for introduction of the drive charge housing. The drive charge housing is fixed to a section (32) of the peripheral wall diametrically opposite to the insert aperture at least against displacement in the direction of the longitudinal axis (A) of the outer housing.
