A heated, shaped cutting tool punches out a layered structure (1) with a plastic foil (2) placed on top and below. A structure layered with foil and welded on outer edges is further processed by heating and pressing the edge zones in a subsequent operating stage. Plastic foil (4) softens and melts in an edge zone and penetrates edge areas.
