Feedback parameter estimation for electric machines

A method and system (10) for estimating a parameter of an electric machine (12), including a controller (18) and a switching device, the controller (18) executes a parameter estimation process, which is responsive to at least one of: a current value and a torque command and the resultant of the parameter estimation process representing an estimated parameter of the electric machine (12). The parameter estimation includes a method for estimating a temperature of the electric machine (12) comprising: a temperature sensor (13) operatively connected to and transmitting a temperature signal (23) corresponding to a measured temperature to a controller (18), which executes a temperature estimation process (100) responsive to a temperature signal (23) from a temperature sensor (13).
