The tire also has a robust chapex (34) in the bead area of the sidewall which has a shape that results from wrapping the turn-up of the carcass ply around the bead (28) of the tire without an apex (30). The chapex (34) conforms to the shape of the bead (28). The material in the chapex (34) corresponds in volume substantially to the combined volume of the apex (30) and the chafer (32) of a similarly sized tire.",
