Motor vehicle with a steering wheel slidable in the direction of the dashboard

Steering wheel (2) and steering column are moveable relative to the dashboard (1), which has a hood (6) above associated indicators (4). Within the area of the indicators, the steering wheel can be moved against the dashboard, or lowered into an aperture (10) in the dashboard. The hood is fastened pivoted to the dashboard, and can be tilted with its end facing the rear of the vehicle, in direction of the lowered steering wheel. The indicators are part of instruments or a display screen. The hood has an electric drive, and another electric drive moves the display flat under the lowered hood.
