Method of storing mileage data

The distance data recording method uses a data bus (5) for supplying the distance data provided by a distance recording device (2) to two control devices (1,6). Each device records the distance data in an associated memory (4,7). Each control device supplies the distance data held in the memory to the data bus at timed intervals, the actual distance data held in the memory of a control device updated by the distance data transmitted along the data bus if the latter is higher.
