A method for validating a signal indicative of a speed of a vehicle includes receiving a plurality of signals (74, 76, 78, 80) indicative of vehicle speed; correlating at least a first (76) of the received signals with at least a second (78) of the received signals (74, 76, 78, 80) to determine if either signal is invalid; and signaling a rejection of any signal found to be invalid.
