A transmitter (2) is carried by the authorized user of a vehicle and emits an identification code. A receiver (3) linked to a protected space (1) analyses the strength of the signal received and the value of the code. If the signal strength indicates the threshold of proximity and the code is correct a presence signal (4) is transmitted which releases the vehicle locks. Rotating coding and encryption are use to protect the transmitter/receiver signals
