  "textContent": "The telescopic mechanism for a roof bar (1) fitted between two housings (2, 2') on either side of a vehicle roof (9) consists of a rod (3) with spring-loaded driving (5) and retaining (6) catches, one operated by a lever (4) and the other by manual pressure. The rod projects from one end of the bar, and the two catches are in the form of plates with holes for the rod to pass through, each catch able to occupy one position in which the rod can move through it and another in which the rod is locked. With the retaining plate released, the position of the rod can be adjusted by moving the lever up and down; after use the lever lies flush with the housing.",
