Pedal supporting structure for vehicle

DRIVE December 18, 2002
Source
A pedal supporting structure includes a pedal bracket (25) secured at a front end thereof to a dash panel (17) and secured at a rear end thereof to a support beam (39), a pedal shaft (59) for swingably supporting a pedal arm (41) and a pressure member (69) disposed in front of the pedal shaft (59). When an external force larger than a specified value is exerted, a front part of the pedal bracket is constituted to be more easily deformed than other parts of the pedal bracket. When the front part of the pedal bracket is deformed, the pressure member (69) presses the pedal shaft (59) in a backward direction. As a result, the pedal shaft (59) is disengaged from the pedal bracket (25) due to a relative displacement between the pedal shaft (59) and the pedal bracket (25).
