The variable cycle engine has a main propulsor (1) generating supersonic flight thrust, and an auxiliary engine (16) generating thrust for take off and landing and subsonic flight. The auxiliary unit has a gas generator and a mechanism (20) transmitting part of the mechanical power from the main propulsor towards the auxiliary unit.
