The seat back (1) has extrusion molded frame profiles (4) extending vertically and holding a pin (24) which can engage in a locking mechanism on the vehicle bodywork. The seat back pivots about an axis (22) at the bottom edge. A headrest (15) is mounted off-center on rods (18) sliding in guides (17) in the thickness of the seat back. There are two rectangular cutouts (31) in the seat back near one side. Part of the seat back may be made of a metallic knitted fabric.
