An automotive suspension stabilizer bar includes a fiber-reinforced composite rod having sets of fibers oriented at 0 DEG , +45 DEG , and -45 DEG with respect to the longitudinal axis of the rod. Each end of the rod is secured to a respective light metal arm by first positioning the rod end in a recess in the arm and then crimping the arm about the rod end. The result is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant stabilizer bar.
