"textContent": "Two-stroke diesel engine (1) with longitudinal scavenging comprises at least one cylinder (2) in which a piston (3) is movably arranged and having an outlet valve (5) for removing combustion gases and several scavenging air openings (21) bringing scavenging air into the cylinder. The flow cross-section (D) of the outlet valve serves for reducing the scavenging so that part of the combustion gases remain in the cylinder. The ratio of the flow cross-section of the outlet valve and the bore (B) of the cylinder is a maximum of 0.4. Preferred Features: The ratio of the flow cross-section of the outlet valve and the bore of the cylinder is 0.3-0.4. A water injection nozzle (8) is arranged so that it injects water mainly into the combustion gases in the cylinder after closing of the outlet valve.",
