Hydraulic circuit for the hydrostatic transmission of a vehicle comprising at least one hydraulic motor (10), two main lines (12, 14), a parking brake (30, 32) having braking means, release control means (38) for supplying the release chamber from a first fluid source and means (42) for connecting this chamber to an unpressurized reservoir. The circuit comprises a single short-circuit and selection valve (44) having two main ports (12A, 14A) respectively connected to the main lines (12, 14) and two selection ports (36A, 40A) respectively connected to the release chamber (36) and to the release line, and control means (50) of this valve capable of controlling a first configuration (44A) in which the main ports are isolated, while the selection ports are connected and a second configuration (44B) in which the main ports are connected while the selection ports are isolated.
