Component comprises an air bag module (10), a motor vehicle steering wheel, and fixing devices for fixing the air bag module to the steering wheel. A first removable fixing device (32) has a first holding part (36) provided on the air bag module and a second holding part (40) provided on the steering wheel which interlock with each other and allow the module to tilt in the direction of the steering wheel to close a second fixing device. The second fixing device (34) is a removable locking connection. In the fixed state the module can move in an axial direction to close horn contacts (22).
