Open roof construction for a vehicle

The roof opening (1) is fitted with side guides (2) for the two-panel (3,4) roof closure. The motor driven push-pull drive cable (5) includes a slide (6) which is engaged by a coupling arm (7) pivotally connected to the front panel (3). The coupling arm can be either rigidly connected to the drive cable (5) or disconnected to leave the panel in a fixed position. The cable can then move round the looped track (19) to pick up a connecting element (20) on the rear panel (4).
