The control method controls the maximum drive torque for the selectively driven steered front wheels (5,6,5',6') in dependence on the measured difference in the revs of the front wheels and the rear wheel drive (HA) and a required difference value for both or each of the front wheels, for maintaining a traction ratio corresponding to maximum drive torque. An Independent claim for a road surfacing machine is also included.
