The code generator carries identifying code information that when received by a receiver is evaluated by an analysis unit. Security is increased by provision of an electromagnetic field detection sensor in the code generator that detects an electromagnetic field generated in the object to which access is required. A field generation device (10) on the object side, e.g. car, generates a short range electromagnetic field, this is coupled to the code generator device (electronic key) when the drivers hand approaches the generation device, e.g. the driver's door handle. Only if the required field is present will the code generator transmit its signal.",
