The active running gear has a piston-cylinder unit (1) which acts as a damper. It also serves as an actuator, and is fitted between the wheel and the body structure. The piston (1b) contains the working chambers (1d, 1e) of the actuator and has its own hydraulic oil supply line. This line can be controlled for specific purposes.
