System and method for displaying geographic images

System for representation of geographical images using a mobile communication device equipped with a locating module and a display (LD). The whereabouts of the mobile device is determined with the locating module and a corresponding plan of the surroundings (UP) is displayed. The display also includes a polygonal type line (WS) comprising a chain of two or more discrete points that represent the height profile of a stretch of road that is to be followed. An Independent claim is also included for a method for representing the surrounding area and height profiles.
