Electromechanical brake device, especially for motor vehicles

A brake piston drive mechanism (5) converts the rotational motion of an electric motor's rotor shaft. A mechanically operated auxiliary brake (12) can also be operated. In order to create the auxiliary brake, a brake pedal (14) and the brake piston drive mechanism are coupled to each other mechanically to form the auxiliary brake so that, as the brake pedal is operated, the auxiliary brake shifts the brake piston in a braking direction.
