A vehicle tire comprises a running surface of grooves (2,3) that run circumferentially and/or laterally, between profile blocks. The surface region has a microscopic structure composed of raised sections in the form of ripples and/or projections. The base of the grooves also has a microscopic surface structure. The spacing between projection peaks is 5-60 mu m, and the projections are arranged regularly and irregularly.
