Starting from the front wall section (24), an indentation (30) extends in the inflated state in the direction toward the rear wall section (26), which is formed by a part of the airbag wall being prevented from moving freely outward from the module during deployment of the airbag. The airbag (22) has, in the region of the opening (28) of the indentation (30), a bladder-like inflatable extension (50) in flow communication with the chamber (32) of the airbag (22), which closes the indentation (30). The indentation (30) extends at an angle from its deepest point to the front wall section (24).",
