Convertible vehicle with a roof storable in a storage compartment

The convertible car has a chamber (6) at the top of the boot (5), into which the roof (2) fits. This is separated from the boot by a movable plate (7, 8), so that the boot space can be increased when it is not in use. A sensor is mounted on the plate to indicate if there is an obstacle in its path when it is being moved.
