DRIVE
August 7, 2002
The seat back consists of a rigid frame (1) with two rigid and parallel side uprights (2, 3), connected at the top by a crossbar (4) and at the bottom to a detachable axle, and a tubular cover (6) of an elastic fabric. The fibres of the fabric cover have different degrees of tension in different directions, and are positioned e.g. across the seat back and perpendicular to the uprights. The cover can be made in one piece or in two sections (6a, 6b) joined by side seams, and its lower end has a flap (7) with fastenings (8) that goes round the axle. The seat back can also have a second outer cover with a foam lining.
