Gas generator, method of producing the same and the use thereof

The invention relates to methods for manufacturing a strand-shaped gas generator with a tubular casing, a coating of a solid ignition agent arranged on the inside thereof, at least one core containing a propellant charge, and at least one continuous gas channel arranged between the casing and the core. The particulate ignition agent is applied, for example by means of an adhesive film, in adhering manner onto a film web, and the core is wrapped with the film web coated with the ignition agent, forming a hollow cylinder which envelops the core and forms the gas channels, such that the side of the film web coated with the ignition agent forms the inner side of the hollow cylinder facing the core. Subsequently, the longitudinal edges of the film web are joined to form the closed hollow cylinder, and the hollow cylinder formed by the film and containing the core is arranged in the casing. The invention further relates to a gas generator of the aforementioned type.
