Method for regulating the air mixture in a heating or air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle comprises feeding ambient air or fresh air to an air conduction housing (12), heating the air in the housing, distributing the air via air flow control elements (36, 38, 40) to different air vents, and feeding the air into the interior of the vehicle. The ambient air fraction is determined by the position of the air flow control elements. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for carrying out the above method. Preferred Features: In the defrost mode, in which the largest fraction of the conditioned air is directed toward the front windscreen, exclusively fresh air is sucked in. The maximum ambient air fraction depends on parameters such as the number of vehicle occupants, etc.
