A lowerable suspension assembly for the deck (74) of a vehicle is elevated and lowered by air springs (81) between a travel position when the deck (74) is horizontally disposed and a loading and unloading position when the deck Is inclined (74) and one end is in contact with a supporting ground surface. The air springs (81) are disposed between a tower (75) and a swing arm (70). A shackle arm (76) connected to a second end of the swing arm (70) comprising two links (78) (79) joined by a neutral pivot connection are pivotably connected to the deck (74) and the swing arm (70)
