Ignition system with an ignition coil

The system is supplied on the primary side by a high frequency source (3) with a pulse width modulated voltage and has a device for detecting the secondary current. A regulator (8) is provide to regulate the pulse width depending on the detected value of the secondary current and a predefined demand value variation of the current amplitude during an ignition spark.
