Production of hot working gases involves carrying out the combustion in a burner to produce a hot combustion waste gas for use as working gas; deviating a part of the combustion waste gas and feeding to an oxygen separating unit and enriching with oxygen before feeding to the burner. Production of hot working gases involves carrying out the combustion in a burner (2) to produce a hot combustion waste gas (11) for use as working gas; deviating a part of the combustion waste gas and feeding to an oxygen separating unit (5); heating an oxygen-containing gas (19) to form a hot oxygen-containing gas and feeding to the oxygen separating unit which has a separating device for removing oxygen from the oxygen-containing gas and adding to the deviated waste gas; allowing reduced hot gas (34) to leave the oxygen separating unit; and feeding waste gas (25) enriched with oxygen and fuel (31) or a fuel-vapor mixture to the burner to form a combustion mixture which burns in the burner to form hot combustion waste gas for use as hot working gas. The waste gas enriched with oxygen is used to heat the oxygen-containing gas before being fed to the burner. An Independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the production of hot working gases. Preferred Features: A heat exchanger (3) is provided to transfer heat from the waste gas enriched with oxygen to the oxygen-containing gas. The waste gas enriched with oxygen and the oxygen-containing gas flow to the heat exchanger according to the counter current principle.
