Multipart cover for vehicle

The multipart cover has side portions elastically and resiliently supported with respect to a center portion, and stops provided on a vehicle body. Upon movement of the cover to closed position, the side portions are engaged to the stops and biased against the elastic support between the center and side portions into the reference plane defined by the center portion. The adjacent side portions of the cover support the center portion for opening the storage compartment (7) of a convertible vehicle (1) with removable top (2). The side portions are movable out of the positions at the opposite sides of the center portion and disposed flush with the center portion in the reference plane defined by the center portion. The side portions can be moved out of the reference plane into an overlapping position with the center portion while undergoing height displacement.
