The vaporizer has an electrically conductive jet body (1) having an internal volume (4) for reception of the fluid medium and at least one jet opening (2), cooperating with a HV electrode (3) positioned coaxial to the longitudinal axis of the jet body within the internal volume. The HV electrode has a sharp edge (3a) at its widest part, positioned adjacent the jet opening, for electrostatic charging of the fluid flowing through the latter. An Independent claim for a vaporization method for a fluid medium is also included.
