Method of vehicle navigation system
DRIVE
April 3, 2002
The cornering probability of a vehicle (2) or a preceding vehicle is determined by analyzing driving dynamics value such as steering angle, yaw rate, etc., obtained from the navigation system (6) when the vehicle is controlled to maintain desired distance from a preceding vehicle. Acceleration of the vehicle is delayed when the determined probability is greater than a threshold value. An Independent claim is also included for the longitudinal control system.
