Ni/metalhydride secondary cell for secondary battery

DRIVE April 3, 2002
Source
In a Ni/metal hydride secondary element with a positive nickel hydroxide electrode, a negative electrode with a hydrogen storage alloy, and an alkaline electrolyte, the positive electrode provided with a three-dimensional metallic conducting framework contains a nickel hydroxide whose grains are coated with discrete particles of metallic copper. The mass of the copper coating amounts to 0.2 to 15 wt%, preferably 5 to 10 wt% of the mass of the nickel hydroxide. [0002] The coating of the nickel hydroxide material is carried out by electroless chemical deposition in an alkaline environment.
