"textContent": "Using methane-containing biogas produced from fermentation plants and digestion processes in clarifying plants comprises feeding the biogas to a gas motor of a gas motor/generator to produce a current. The biogas is separated into two gas streams in a membrane separation device, the first gas stream having a high methane content compared with the biogas composition and used as fuel gas to operate the gas motor, and the second gas stream enriched with CO2 is fed back into the process. Preferred Features: The biogas is compressed and fed to a gas permeation module of the membrane separation device, whose membranes have a preferred permeability for CO2. The retentate withdrawn from the membrane module on the pressure side is fed to the gas motor and the permeate is fed back to the process. Biogas with less than 40 vol.% methane is fed to the membrane separation device and the methane content of the fuel gas is enriched in the separation device to such an extent that the gas motor is operated with a specified air ratio, preferably lambda = 1.5-1.8, preferably lambda = 1.6.",
