Roll over protection device for vehicles

The roll bar system for a car comprises an M-shaped bar (2) which can be lowered against the effect of biasing springs (8) and locked against a similarly-shaped retaining strip (6) or raised. When raised it can be locked in different positions by spring-loaded blocks (15) in the legs (3, 4) which cooperate with locking strips (10a) in the supports (10).
