Heterocyclyl-, aryl-, heterocyclyl-(fluoro)alkyl- and aryl-(fluoro)alkyl-amines are used as additives for reducing the acid content in aprotic electrolyte systems in electrochemical cells. Heterocyclyl-, aryl-, heterocyclyl-(fluoro)alkyl- and aryl-(fluoro)alkyl-amines of formula NRRR (I) are used as additives for reducing the acid content in aprotic electrolyte systems in electrochemical cells. R, R = H, CyF2y+1-zHz or (CnF2n-mHm)X; X = an aromatic or heterocyclic group; R = (CnF2n-mHm)Y or (CoF2o-pHp)Z; Y = a heterocyclic group; Z = an aromatic group; n = 0-6; m = 0-2n; o = 2-6; y = 1-8; and z = 0-2y+1. An Independent claim is also included for electrochemical cells, comprising (1) an anode; (2) a cathode; and (3) an aprotic electrolyte system containing (I).
