Battery charging method wherein the end of charging is determined by the variation of its temperature comprising the steps consisting of: periodically measuring the temperature of the battery (E2) as well as the variation of battery temperature per unit of time; comparing this temperature variation per unit of time (E3): on the one hand, to a first threshold (X+Y degrees Celsius per minute) corresponding to the variation of ambient temperature and battery temperature, in which case stopping the charging mode (E5); on the other hand, to the variation of ambient temperature only (X degrees Celsius per minute), in which case comparing the temperature variation of the battery per unit of time (E4) to a second threshold (Y degrees Celsius per minute), corresponding to the variation of battery temperature only; and stopping the charging mode (E5).
